Abstract:Objective:To investigate the expression of Survivin and Bax protein in esophageal squa-mous cell carcinoma ( ESCC) tissue and their relations with the clinicopathalogical features and the prognosis. Methods:The expression of Survivin and Bax in 58 cases of ESCC were detected by immnohistochemical staining. Results:The positive rates of Survivin and Bax in ESCC tissue were 77. 6% and 43. 1%, respectively. The positive expression rate of Survivin was correlated with the differentiation (P<0. 05), but not correlated with gender, age, the depth of invasion, lymphatic metastasis, clinical stage, and overall survival time (OS) (P>0. 05). The positive expression rate of Bax was not correlated with gender, age, the depth of invasion, lymphatic metastasis, clini-cal stage, differentiation and OS (P>0. 05). The expression of Survivin was not correlated with Bax ( P>0 . 05 ) . Conclusion: High expression of Survivin protein in ESCC was correlated with the differentiation of cancer cells, It may play an important role in the progression of ESCC.
