Protective effects of captopril on myocardium with acute ischemia

Abstract：Objective: To investigate the protective effects of captopril on myocardium with acute ischemia and its potential mechanisms.Methods: Complete coronary ligation at the middle of left ventricular branch for 100 minutes was carried out in 19 rabbits (control group n=9,therapeutic group n=10),Ischemic myocardial size,incidence of severe ventricular arrhythmias and plasma levels of norepinephrine(NE) and angiotensin Ⅱ(AⅡ)were measured.Results: Ischemic myocardial size in therapeutic group was lower than in control group (34.6%±2．2％ vs 40.8%±2．6％，P＜0．001），the incidence of severe ventricular arrhythmias and the levels of NE and AⅡ decreased markedly in therapeutic group (P＜0．05）．Conclusion: Captopril have protective effects on acute ischemic myocardium,decrease ischemic myocardial size and the incidence of ventricular arrhythmias and the mechanism may be related to the reduction in plasma concentrations of NE and AⅡ．
