Clinical observition of 35 cases of surgical biliary drainage for advanced bile duct cancer

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of surgical biliary drainage for advanced bile duct cancer. Methods:The clinical data of 35 cases of advanced bile duct cancer undergone surgical biliary drainage were analysed retrospectively.The surgery for biliary drainage used in our series included bilioenteric anastomosis, internal biliary drainage with intubationmethod,u-tube drainage,external drainage,or in combination. Results: Total serum bilirubin levels of 27 patients (77.1%)reduced over 50% in two weeks after operation. 8 patients (22.9%) had complications at early postoperative period. The oper-ative mortality was 14.3%. Median survival time of 9 patients received internal drainage was 11.3 months. 7 patients receivedu-bube drainage survived for more than one year. 3 patients received external drainage died with in 3months. Conclusion: Sur-gical biliary drainage plays an important role in relieving symptoms, improving quality of life and prolonging time of life for ad-vanced bile duct cancer.
