Analysis and Evaluation of Climate Comfort Characteristics in Shanxi Province from 1981 to 2020

Abstract：Based on monthly temperature,relative humidity,wind speed and sunshine hours of 109 meteorological stations from 1981 to 2018,adopting the temperature-humidity index,wind chill index,dressing index and comprehensive comfort index as well as the methods of linear tendency estimation and path analysis,this paper analyzes and evaluates the characteristics of climate comfort in Shanxi Province.The results show that:(1)The annual and seasonal linear variations of temperature-humidity index and wind chill index from 1981 to 2020 present an upward trend,while the dressing index is in a decreasing trend.The seasonal comprehensive comfort index reflects that the spring,summer and autumn weather is relatively comfortable,but the winter weather is uncomfortable.Spring presents an upward trend in com-prehensive comfort index and tends to be comfortable.The comprehensive comfort index and temperature-humidity index by month are highly consistent,indicating that the weather in most areas is comfortable or more comfortable from March to October.(2)The spatial distribution of comprehensive comfort index by month denotes that it is comfortable in most areas from April to October in 1981-2020,and in May and September it is comfortable in the whole province,but there is no comfortable weather in the whole prov-ince from December to the following February.The comfort period of each county lasts for three to five months,and 64.8％of the counties enjoy four months'comfortable climate.(3)Air temperature is the factor that has the greatest influence on each index,relative humidity has a similar direct and indirect negative impact on the temperature-humidity index,wind speed directly affects the wind chill index and comprehensive comfort index,but the influence of sunshine is weak.(4)The elevation of Wutaishan Sta-tion is lowered after the relocation of the station in 1998,so temperature-humidity index and wind chill index tend to be comfortable,with the thickness of the garment reduced.From 1998 to 2020,the weather in five months every year is relatively comfortable or comfortable,i.e.,it is comfortable in June,July and August,and relatively comfortable in May and September,which is suitable for summer heat.
