Abstract:The aim was to study the effects of adding ureaformaldehyde fertilizer on seedling of tomato and to provide guidance for application of ureaformaldehyde fertilizer in intensive seedling production of vegetables. The results showed that at two developmental stages A1 treatment(added 2.0 g/L slow-release fertilizer with biochar) showed optimum results in regard to the dry weight ordinary underground part of tomato seedling as well as the seedling index. The dry weights above ground were 177.0 mg and 488.6 mg respectively, which were significantly different from CK1(added 2.8 g/L ordinary urea formaldehyde slow-release fertilizer) and CK2(added Hengxian substrate). There was no significant difference between treatment and control in root ac-tivity.CK2 showed highest chlorophyll content at both periods. The concentration of potassium and potassium absorption in the ground and underground parts were the highest, and the amount of potassium absorbed by A1 was 29.39% and 85.86% higher than that of CK1 and CK2 respectively. In summary this study indicates that on the basis of adding a fixed amount of potassium fulvic acid,calcium-magnesia phosphate fertilizer and calci-um superphosphate fertilizer,A1 treatment had the best seedling effect.
