Evaluation on Drought Tolerance of 16 Maize Hybrids

Abstract：The differences of drought resistance among 16 different maize hybrids during whole growth period were studied by pool cultivation with manually controlled water to study and evaluate drought tolerance of registered varieties of maize.The results showed that the maximum yield difference between flood and drought treatment was 1 987.62 kg/ha,and the minimum was 287.50 kg/ha.Under drought treatment the average yield of all maize hybrids reduced to 1 077.03 kg/ha.The average DRC of all maize hybrids was 0.82-0.97 and the (DRI-1) of them was 0.74-1.14.Analysis according to drought resistance coefficient indicated that the 3 hybrids including Zhengdan 1002,Zhengdan 958 and Zhengdan 538 were highly resistant to drought and their resisting drought grade was 2.The 11 hybrids including Xundan 20,Weike 702,Yudan 606,Xianyu 808,Yu-an 3,Zhengdan 528,Xianyu 335,Dedan 121,Zhongzhong 8,Nonghua 101,and Qiaoyu 8 showed medium resistance and their resisting drought grade was 3.The other hybrids including Liyu 16 and Zhongke 4 were weakest and their resisting drought grade was 4.
