Abstract:To further investigate the mechanism for tobacco mosaic virus( TMV) tolerance in plant, the physiological and biochemical indexes of flue-cured varieties NC89 and Yuyan 8 , which was the natural variant cultivar from NC89 and acquired the tolerance to TMV,were detected after inoculation of TMV. The results showed that the content of superoxide anion, the enzyme activities of peroxidase( POD) ,phen-ylalanine ammonia lyase(PAL) and catalase(CAT) in Yuyan 8 were obviously higher than NC89,but the content of malondialdehyde ( MDA) was lower than NC89 at 24 hours after inoculation with TMV. The ex-pression level of N gene in Yuyan 8 was higher than NC89 . The tissue sections at 9 days post inoculation with TMV displayed that epidermal cells ruptured, the cell arrange of palisade tissue loosened, the porosity of spongy tissue increased in NC89 compared to Yuyan 8 . The results suggested that the rapid response to TMV at early stage was the base for tolerance of Yuyan 8 to TMV.
