Breeding and Cultivation of New Sweetpotato Variety Zhenghong No .23

Abstract：A new dual-purpose sweetpotato variety Zhenghong No.23 was bred in 2007 by Food Crop In-stitute of Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences using Shizhong No.1 as female parent,Xushu No.18 as male parent.In the Henan’ s sweetpotato regional test,the average fresh yield,dry yield and starch yield were 32 799.75 kg/ha,9 437.25 kg /ha and 6 081.00kg/ha,and increased by 10.57%,12.13 %and 11.11%compared with the control Xushu No.22 respectively.The variety also presented many other better characters,such as better resistance to stem nematode and root rot ,middle resistance to black spot, better tolerance to drought and barren,better storability,better yield stability ,better adaptability and good taste.
