Effects of Irradiation on Quality and Safety of Tobacco Leaves and Cigarettes

Abstract：Irradiation as an efficient,low-carbon and energy-saving no-heating technology,has a high efficiency in controlling pests and mold of tobacco leaves and cigarettes.We review the effects of irradia-tion on quality of tobacco leaves and cigarettes,and appraise its safety.Right dose of irradiation does not have any disadvantage to chemical components and sensory quality of tobacco leaves and cigarettes.More-over,right dose of irradiation can reduce harmful ingredients of tobacco leaves and cigarettes smoke,and simultaneously increase the safety of cigarettes.
