Abstract：This paper introduces the breeding procedure and the characteristics of wheat variety Zhengmai 101.Taking the high-and stable-yield and wide suitable materials Zhengmai 9023 as parent,Zhengmai 101 was bred after many years of selection and identification,which presented the characters of high and stable yield,and disease resistance.The average yield of two-year re-gional tests was 6 958·5 kg/ha,3·82% higher than CK(Yanzhan 4110).The average yield of pro-duction test was 6 984 kg/ha,increasing by 5·17% compared with CK(Yanzhan 4110).The quali-ty analysis for two years showed that Zhengmai 101 was close to the strong gluten standards(wet gluten contents 35·1% and 34%,bibulous rates 56·6% and 55·2%,stable time 8·0 min and 6·1 min,respectively).It also had the good comprehensive disease resistance(resistance to stripe rust and certain resistance to other diseases).Zhengmai 101 was suitable for planting in south Huang-huai wheat region(most parts of Henan province,north Anhui and Jiangsu province,and Shanxi Guanzhong areas with high fertility and mid to late sowing time.
