Abstract:In order to filter out the high activity of oligosaccharides and provide a theoretical basis for their application in agriculture ,the effects of seed soaking with three common marine oligosac-charides(alginate derived oligosaccharides ,chitin oligosaccharides and chitosan oligosaccharides ) on seed germination and seedling growth of wheat were studied in this paper .The results showed that the three oligosaccharide treatments promoted the seed germination and the seedling grow th of wheat .Among them ,the alginate oligosaccharides had the best promoting-growth effects on wheat seedlings compared to other two oligosaccharide treatments ,with the optimum level of 0.05% .The germination index ,the vitality index and the number of shoot-borne roots increased by 12.96% ,14.74% and 12.13% ,respectively .The chitin oligosaccharides also promoted the for-mation of shoot-borne roots of wheat .The two oligosaccharides significantly increased the concen-trations of chlorophyll ,soluble sugar and soluble protein in leaves .However ,the chitosan oligo-saccharides had no significant promoting-grow th effects on w heat seedling .Relatively ,the applica-tion of alginate derived oligosaccharides ,as a new plant growth regulator ,was more promising .
