Effect of Aluminum on Quality of Sexual Tea
LI Chun-lei
Abstract:Two varieties of sexual tea seedlings(Fudingdabai and Jiukeng) were grown hydroponi-cally to study the effect on the biochemical composition of sexual tea at different concentrations of aluminum (Al)(0 ,5 ,10 ,20 ,30 mg/L) .The results showed that the content of polyphenols and soluble-sugars increased significantly with the increase of Al concentration .Compared with the control(0 mg/L) ,the content of tea polyphenols in Fudingdabai increased by 51 .53% and in Ji-ukeng increased by 49 .90% , w hile the content of soluble-sugars in Fudingdabai increased by 24.73% and in Jiukeng increased by 20 .56% at 30 mg/L of Al .T he content of amino acids showed an initial increase followed by a decrease with the increase of Al concentration ,reached the peak in Fudingdabai(2.40% ) and Jiukeng(2.33% ) when the Al concentration was 20 mg/L and 10 mg/L ,and increased by 17 .07% and 23 .94% respectively compared with the control .The trend of caffeine in Fudingdabai and Jiukeng was similar to that of amino acids ,and reached the peak(2.41% and 2.28% ) when the Al concentration was 10 mg/L .The content of water-soluble extracts in Fudingdabai showed significant difference at 5 mg/L and 10 mg/L ,but that in Jiukeng did not significantly change .These results suggest that moderate concentration of Al (<20 mg/L) could promote quality of sexual tea ,while excessive concentration of Al would decrease it .
