Abstract：In order to discuss the cultivation system adapting to new w heat cultivar Zhengmai 9962 approved by Henan province and national standards ,a split-plot experiment was carried out to study the effects of sowing date and planting density on yield and its components of Zhengmai 9962 in south Henan province .The results showed that the sowing date and plant density and their interaction had a significant effect on yield of Zhengmai 9962 .The sowing date and plant density also had a significant effect on yield components and agronomic traits of Zhengmai 9962 . Appropriate later sowing date could decrease the ear number ,grain number per ear ,1 000-grain weight and grain yield .Increasing planting density could decrease the ear number and grain yield , but decrease the grain number per ear and 1 000-grain weight .The experiment result suggested that the suitable seed quantity for Zhengmai 9962 was 225 kg/ha sowed before the end of Oct .and 300 kg/ha sow ed in early Nov .
