Abstract:Objective To design a self-checking nuclear decontamination waste liquid collection device that enables real-time assessment of decontamination effectiveness, enhancing the rescue capability of military nuclear rescue teams. Methods The device consisted of an upper decontamination system and a lower waste monitoring system. The upper lay-er included a decontamination bed with movable barriers and drainage channels forming a semi-enclosed area;the lower layer integrated waste collection, radiation detection and processing systems, with a funnel-shaped pipeline equipped with radiation detection technology to monitor real-time changes in radiation intensity, indirectly evaluating decontamination ef-fectiveness.Results The new system enabled immediate, dynamic assessment during decontamination, eliminating the traditional 10 min inspection process and avoiding repeated decontamination, which significantly improved the decontami-nation efficiency. Conclusion This self-checking nuclear decontamination system innovatively addresses key challenges in traditional decontamination, with important implications for enhancing nuclear emergency response efficiency, reducing environmental contamination, and ensuring rescuer safety.
