Development and Application of Split-type Thermal Insulating Blanket During Field Environmental Surgery and the Rearward Transportation

Abstract：Objective To solve the defect of keeping warm of the exposed parts of head,neck,shoulder and ex-tremities of the wounded during field environmental surgery and rearward transportation,and prevent the occurrence of hypothermia,the split-type thermal insulation blanket was improved and made.Methods Restraint-type cloak-style insu-lation blanket with collar,warming sleeves for the upper and lower limbs and the head,as well as wrap-around warming blankets for rearward transportation and evacuation were fabricated using cotton fabric,cotton batting,aluminum/tin foil insulation layer,self-heating materials and waterproof non-woven fabric.Results The split-type thermal insulation blan-ket had achieved the effect of seamless and continuous thermal insulation,and were flexibly applied independently accord-ing to different parts and uses during wartime surgeries.Conclusion The split-type thermal insulation blanket can pro-vide lasting warmth for the wounded as a whole or in part.It is convenient to obtain materials,quick to use,safe and ef-fective.
