Investigation of Nutrition and Physical Health Status of Troops in Field Training and in Barrack

Abstract:Objective To analyze the characteristics of dietary nutrition,physical status and lifestyle between units in field training and in the barrack,provide scientific basis for the development of targeted support measures.Methods One unit in field training and one adjacent unit in the barrack were selected as survey subjects for dietary nutrition investi-gation,meanwhile,the height,body weight,waist circumference,body composition and grip strength of them were measured,and the lifestyle questionnaire survey was conducted.Results The daily energy consumption of units in field training and in the barrack were 3 674.00 kcal and 3 504.00 kcal,both of which belongs to severe labor intensity.The number of food items consumed by unit in field training(62 items)was significantly lower than those of unit in the bar-rack(82 items).The intake of grains,aquatic products,milk and milk products,soybean and soy products,vegetable oil and fruits were below the military standard for both units,besides,the intake of vegetables,mushrooms and seaweeds for unit in field training and poultry meat for unit in the barrack were below the military standard;compared to unit in the barrack,the intake of grains,livestock meat,poultry meat,eggs,milk and diarly products,vegetable oil and fruits were higher for unit in field training,while the intake of aquatic products,soybeans and soy products,vegetables,mushrooms and seaweeds was lower.The energy intake of the two research units was basically consistent with the recommended in-take of the military standard,and the intake of vitamin B,and vitamin B6 was lower than the recommended intake of the military standard.The energy supply of carbohydrate in the two units was lower than the military standard,while the percentages of energy provided by protein intake and fat in the two units were exceeded the standard,and total dietary fat intake was higher for unit in field training than the unit in the barrack.The corrected grip strength of unit in field training was higher than that of unit in the barrack,while the percentage of height,body weight,body fat and skeletal muscle mass were lower than those of unit in the barrack.The majority of personnel in both units had daily water in-take below 1 700 ml.Conclusion The dietary structure of both units in field training and in barrack should be further optimized and adjusted in accordance with military standards.
