Chain Mediating Effect of Sleep Quality and Depression on Multidimensional Fatigue and Suicidal Ideation

Abstract：Objective To explore the chain mediating effect of sleep quality and depression on the relationship be-tween multidimensional fatigue and suicidal ideation in plateau workers.Methods Demographic data questionnaire,Pitts-burgh sleep quality index(PSQI),self-rating depression scale(SDS),Chinese version of the multidimensional fatigue in-ventory-20(MFI-20)and self-rating idea of suicide scale(SIOSS)were used to conduct questionnaire survey on 3 262 plateau workers from July to December 2023,and the chain mediation model was constructed and tested.Results The scores of SIOSS in plateau workers who were female,older than 30 years old,engaged in transportation related tasks,plateau work more than once,high school education or above,lack of emotional care,no emotional sharing,need psycho-logical counseling and abnormal family structure were higher.The total scores of PSQI,SDS,MFI-20 and SIOSS of plat-eau workers were 5.00(3.00,6.00),36.25(31.25,45.00),38.00(30.00,52.00)and 1.00(0.00,2.00)respective-ly.Correlation analysis showed that sleep quality was positively correlated with depression(r=0.319,P＜0.01),multi-dimensional fatigue was positively correlated with depression and sleep quality(r=0.442,r=0.407,respectively,all P＜0.01),suicidal ideation was positively correlated with depression,multidimensional fatigue and sleep quality(r=0.436,0.438 and 0.549,respectively,all P＜0.01).The mediating effect model showed that sleep quality and depression had chain mediating effect on the relationship between multidimensional fatigue and suicidal ideation,accounting for 61.32％of the total effect.Conclusion Multidimensional fatigue,poor sleep quality,depression and suicidal ideation are present in highland workers.Multidi-mensional fatigue can have direct effect on suicidal ideation and indirect effect on suicidal ideation by affecting sleep quality or triggering depression.
