Abstract:Objective To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of foldable capsular buckle(FCB)assisted scleral buck-ling surgery for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD).Methods The clinical data of 12 consecutive cases(12 eyes)undergoing FCB scleral buckling was retrospectively analyzed in the author's hospital from October 2022 to October 2023,and the patients were followed up for 1 to 12 months.Parameters including best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),intraoc-ular pressure, retinal reattachment and complications were systematically observed. Results All the 12 patients success-fully underwent FCB scleral buckling, and the retina was successfully reattached in 12 eyes,8 eyes(66.67%)were suc-cessfully operated in one surgery,2 eyes(16.67%)were adjusted again after balloon buckling, and 2 eyes(16.67%)were adjusted again after balloon buckling combined with intravitreal air injection;the balloon was punctured in 3 eyes(25.00%)at 4-8 weeks after surgery,no recurrent detachment occurred during the 12-month follow-up,the preoperative BCVA was(0.38±0.32),and the postoperative BCVA was(0.76±0.21)after 8 weeks, there was significant difference in BCVA before and after surgery(P<0.001);the preoperative intraocular pressure was(12.63±4.03)mmHg(1 mmHg≈0.133 kPa),and the postoperative intraocular pressure was(14.52±4.09)mmHg,there was no signifi-cant difference between the preoperative and postoperative intraocular pressure(P>0.05).No serious postoperative com-plications occurred in all patients. Conclusion FCB scleral buckling is a feasible and effective method for the treatment of RRD with minimally invasion, short operation time, simple steps and few complications.
