Issues in Tourniquet Use by Ukrainian Army in the Russia-Ukraine Conflict and Its Enlightenment to Our Army

Abstract：Objective To analyze problematic applications of tourniquets by Ukrainian army during the Russia-U-kraine conflict and draw lessons for improving combat-focused tourniquet training in Chinese military.Methods Literature and public reports were reviewed,the problems and lessons of tourniquet use in Ukrainian army during the Russia-U-kraine conflict were investigated,the current status of guidelines and training on tourniquet use in first aid and pre-hospi-tal treatment in the past 20 years were reviewed.Results The overuse of tourniquet and the serious shortage of tourniquet adjustment and conversion in the Ukrainian army in the Russia-Ukraine conflict led to a large number of patients with seri-ous complications and unnecessary amputations.Both the pre-hospital first aid guidelines and the U.S.tactical combat casualty care(TCCC)guidelines emphasized the importance of re-evaluation and timely adjustment of tourniquet conver-sion after application,which gave specific technical standards and operating procedures.Conclusion Our army can focus on the training of tourniquet application indications,re-evaluation and tourniquet adjustment and conversion,expand the scope of training,and implement case analysis,situational simulation and other training methods closer to actual combat,so as to improve the cure rate.
