Investigation on Health Literacy Status and Influencing Factors of Military Academy Cadets in Wuhan

Abstract：Objective To investigate the health literacy level and its influencing factors of military academy cadets in Wuhan,so as to provide theoretical basis for strengthening health education of military cadets.Methods A total of 2 765 cadets from 3 military academies in Wuhan from September to October 2023 were investigated by using the question-naire of military personnel health literacy.The overall health literacy level,four aspects of health literacy levels and six types of problem literacy levels were investigated,the influencing factors of health literacy were analyzed by multivariate Logistic regression analysis.Results The overall health literacy level of 2 765 military cadets in Wuhan was 41.37％;among the four aspects of health literacy,the number of cadets with basic health concept literacy was the most(n=2 026,73.27％),and the number of cadets with basic health knowledge literacy was the least(n=783,28.32％).In the six types of problem literacy,the number of cadets with military health concept literacy was the most(n=2 757,99.71％),and the number of cadets with military common disease prevention literacy was the least(n=343,12.41％).The results of Logistic regression analysis showed that,personnel category,gender,age,ethnicity and health self-assess-ment were the factors influencing the health literacy level of military cadets(P＜0.05).Conclusion Although the overall health literacy level of cadets in Wuhan military academies is high,the health literacy level of non-commissioned officer ca-dets is still low,and some dimensions of cadets'health literacy are still insufficient;relevant departments should formu-late scientific health intervention strategies according to the influencing factors and weak links,and comprehensively im-prove the health literacy level of military cadets.
