Abstract:Objective To explore the relationship between grit and psychological health of grassroots officers and soldiers. Methods A total of 827 officers and soldiers of a certain unit were surveyed, and the 12-item grit scale(Grit-12)and the Warwick-Edinburgh mental well-being scale(WEM-WBS)were used in this study, and correlation analysis,t-test and regression analysis were used for statistical analysis. Results The persistence of effort, consistency of interest and total score of cadres and officers with more than 1 year of military service were lower than those of soldiers and of-ficers with 1 year of military service;the persistence scores and total scores of the only child and the age>20-year-old soldiers and officers were lower than those of the non-only child and 18-20 years old(all P<0.05).The positive psychol-ogy health of cadres,age>20 years old, military service>1 year of officers and soldiers were lower than those of sol-diers,18-20 years old and with 1 year of military service(all P<0.05).The correlation analysis showed that age was sig-nificantly negatively correlated with perseverance of effort and total score(r=-0.216,-0.145,all P<0.01);the length of military service was significantly negatively correlated with perseverance of effort, consistency of interests and total score(r=-0.215,-0.091,-0.182,all P<0.01);the age, length of military service were significantly negatively correlated with psychological health(r=-0.213,-0.234,all P<0.01).The perseverance of effort, consistency of interests and total score were significantly positively correlated with psychological health(r=0.723,0.274,0.592,all P<0.001).The results of linear regression analysis showed that after excluding the mixed interference of age, length of military service and officers and soldiers'status, persistence effort and grit could significantly positively predict positive psychological health(β=0.600,0.147,all P<0.001).Conclusion The grit of officers and soldiers can positively affect their psychological health. It suggested that the overall mental health level of the troops can be improved through the training of officers and soldiers'grit, thereby enhancing combat effectiveness.
