Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of internal fixation with locking compression plate (LCP) for complex tibial plateau fractures. Methods Forty patients were underwent LCP internal fixation in treatment for complex tibial plateau fractures in authors's department from January 2015 to December 2016.Of the 40 tibial fractures classifiable on the basis of the Schatzker system,24 were classified as type V,16 were type V,23 severe lateral tibial plateau dislocations were used bilateral LCP fixation, and 17 smaller displacements were under unilateral LCP fixation.Postoperative adjustable braces were protected for 4-6 weeks.X-ray films were regular reviewed, and the knee mobilities gradually increased on the basis of the review results. Results The average operation time was (95.5 ± 20.5) min, average operative blood loss was (260± 100) ml,all patients were followed up for 6-12 (7.5 ± 1.5) months, and fracture healing time were 11-18 (14.5 ± 2.0) weeks.None of wound infection, internal fixation failure were found after operation. At the last follow-up,12.0-18.0 (16.5 ± 1.0) scores were evaluated by radiological scores of Rasmussen knee joint.According to the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) knee function evaluation:excellent in 25 cases, good in 13 cases, fair in 1 cases poor in 1 case, and the good rate was 95%.Conclusion LCP internal fixation has less complication in treatment of complex tibial plateau fractures, and also good recovery. It is an alternative method.
