Abstract:Objective To investigate the weight change and its influence factors after exenatide treatment in type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity patients. Methods The obesity outpatients with or without type 2 diabetes mellitus used exenatide in authors' hospital from July 2015 to June 2017 were followed up.Results The body mass and body mass index (BMI) of 112 patients were significantly decreased after using exenatide (P<0.05).Pearson correlation showed that the body mass of the male was decreased more than the female's,and positive correlated with original body mass and months of treatment.Multiple linear stepwise regression showed that the main factors of weight change were the months of treatment and the original weight, while the main factor influenced the BMI change was the months of treatment. In type 2 diabetes patients with exenatide treatment, fast plasma glucose (FPG) and postprandial plasma glucose (PPG) levels were significantly lower than these before treatment (P<0.05).And there was no significantly difference in blood glucose of obesity patients before and after treatment (P>0.05).The ascending aorta widening, left atrial enlargement and left ventricle diastole dysfunction were the common characteristics of type 2 diabetes mellitus with obesity patients or simple obesity patients.Exenatide had a special efficacy for polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).The main adverse effects were gastrointestinal reaction and hypoglycemia. No obvious effect to liver, kidney or weight rebound was seen. Conclusion With the months of treatment increasing, the degree of weight loss shows a certain pattern.Male patients have more weight loss.Men's body weight has an obvious reduction. The months of treatment and original body mass are the main factors in body mass changes, and the months of treatment are the main influencing factors of BMI changes.
