Questionnaire Survey on Knowledge Status and Requirements of Disaster Assistance in Nurses

Abstract：Objective To realize the situation of disaster assistance knowledge in nurses of a military Grade Ⅲ Level A hospital.Methods A questionnaire was designed and distributed to 300 nurses with stratified sampling method.Three hundred nurses in internal,surgical,emergency departments,intensive care unit(ICU),operating room and special care units of author's hospital were randomly selected by stratified sampling method,and assessed their experience and situation of disaster assistance knowledge by self-designed questionnaire,including the following six dimensions:injuries classification,on-site rescue,safe transfer,hospital treatment,health and epidemic prevention and mental intervention.Results The mean scores of nurses' disaster assistance knowledge were (21.07 ± 5.41) scores.Among them,only 22 nurses (7.33％) were excellent grades,173 nurses (57.67％) were good grades,and 105 nurses(35.00％) were bad grades.The score of emergency department nurses was highest (27.25± 2.43),and score of ICU nurses was the second-highest (26.30 ± 1.34).The total scores of disaster assistance knowledge in nurses were correlated with the related experiences closely.There were intensity wishes for nurses to participate in various types of disaster assistance training,and training needs concentrated in the disaster scene first aid and disaster psychological intervention,as well as training forms were main disaster assistance simulation exercises and outside higher educatior.Conclusion The knowledge of disaster assistance of nurses is limited.Combination of disaster assistance simulation exercise and theory skills training of disaster scene firstaid technology and disaster psychological intervention should be strengthened.
