Abstract:Objective To study the changes of bone metabolic markers in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)as the disease activities. Methods The differences of serum C-reactive protein (CRP),interleukin-6 (IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF α),β-C-terminal telopeptide of type Ⅰ collagen (β-CTX),alkaline phosphatase (ALP),osteocalcin (OC) and N-terminal propeptide of type Ⅰ procollagen (PINP) in 100 patients with acute exacerbation of COPD,100 patients with stable COPD and 100 healthy examiners at the same age were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and analyzed the influence on disease development. Results Compared with the healthy control group, the levels of CRP,IL-6,TNF-α,β-CTX,ALP,OC and PINP in patients with COPD during acute exacerbation and stable period were significantly higher, and levels of the acute exacerbation were higher than these in the stable period (all P<0.01).The ratio of PINP/β-CTX in patients with COPD during acute exacerbation and stable period were lower than these in healthy control group (P<0.01),and the ratio of PINP/β-CTX in patients with acute exacerbation of COPD was lower than that in the stable period (P<0.05).Conclusion The bone resorption function of patients with COPD,especially in the acute exacerbation period,is extremely active, and the bone mass loss increases obviously, accordingly the risk of secondary osteoporosis is higher.
