Investigation on Dietetic and Nutritional Status of Soldiers in A Special Forces Corps

Abstract:Objective To investigate the dietetic nutrition and physical status of soldiers in a special forces corps,and provide a scientific basis for nutritional improvement measures and the prevention of sub-health.Methods The acceptable daily intake of dietary nutrition was used by weighed food record.The height,body mass,skinfold thickness and upper-arm muscle circumference were measured,the contents of Vitamin B1,B2 and C in 4-hour urine loading test were determined by fluorospectrophotometry,the contents of hemoglobin (Hb) in blood were measured by colorimetry,and the questionnaire survey about nutrition knowledge was done in the meantime.Results The body mass index (BMI) was eveluated as 4.90% of malnutrition,11.76% were muscular malnutrition by upper arm muscular circumference standards,and 2.94% were nutritional deficiency.The dietary intake of calcium,vitamin B1,B2 and C were 51.50%,71.50%,71.33% and 74.00 % of recommended dietary allowance (RDA) of military standard,respectively,and all not enough.The energy and other nutrients were up to the RDA.Among the soldiers,33.33%,28.43% and 16.67% of them had vitamin B1,B2 and C deficiencies or insufficiencies.Hb contents of 9.80% of the soldiers were below normal.There were 93.14% of the soldiers thought the knowledge of nutrition was important,and 78.43 % were acquainted with nutritional knowledge,but only 47.06% were correct about the nutrition action.Conclusion The dietary nutrition and physical state of the soldiers are deficiencies.It is suggested to balance diet for reasonable intake and health promotion.
