Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical significance of adenosine triphosphate-binding cassette transporter protein G2 gene (ABCG2) mRNA in patients with primary gouty arthritis (GA).Methods Sixty patients from August 2015 to August 2016 were collected into the experimental group, and divided into acute gouty arthritis (AGA) subgroup and intermittent gouty arthritis (IGA) subgroup (n =30) based on the length of the disease.Twenty healthy people were collected into the control group at the same period. The ABCG2 mRNA expressions of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were detected by polymerase chain reaction (PCR),meanwhile, other biochemical markers, such as uric acid (UA),urea nitrogen (UN),total triglyceride (TG) and cholesterol (TC),were measured. Results The ABCG2 mRNA expressions in the experimental group were higher than these in the control group (P<0.05).The ABCG2 mRNA expressions in the AGA and IGA subgroups were all higher than these in the control group (P<0.05).The ABCG2 mRNA expressions in gout patients were positively correlated with the UA concentration (r =0.28,P<0.05),but no significant correlation was found in the others biochemical markers. Conclusion ABCG2 has a high-level expression in gout patients so the detection of ABCG2 can provide a theoretical basis for elucidating the pathogenesis of GA.
