Abstract:Objective To analyze the effects of functional gastrointestinal disorders(FGIDs)on sleep qualities of army soldiers in the middle region. Methods Aquestionnaire survey was conducted in army soldiers by stratified random cluster sampling method,FGIDs were diagnosed by Rome Ⅲ Modular Questionnaire and sleep quality was evaluated by Pittsburgh sleep quality index questionnaire(PSQI).Results A total of 739 registered subjects,348 were classified as FGIDs group, and 391 were non-FGIDs group. The seven common FGIDs were listed as followed:unspecific functional bowel disorder, functional dyspepsia, cyclic vomiting syndrome, proctalgia fugax, irritable bowel syndrome, functional bloating and belching disorders.Compared with non-FGIDs group, the sleep quality, sleep latency, daytime functional disorder and PSQI total scores were higher in FGIDs group(P<0.01 or P<0.05).Except for functional bloating, the other 6 common FGIDs had significatly higher scores on sleep disturbance(P<0.01).Soldiers with overlapped FGIDs had more somnipathy(P<0.05),and major performance were sleep latency, daytime functional disorder, higher PSQI total scores.Spearman correlation analysis indicated that sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep time, sleep disturbance, daytime functional disorder and PSQI total scores were significantly correlated with overlapped FGIDs(P<0.05).Conclusion Parahypnosis is common to army officers and soldiers.Sleep disturbance is aggravated by soldiers with FGIDs,overlapped FGIDs even more.
