Clinical Effects of Moxibustion Combined with Biofeedback and Electrical Stimulation in the Treatment of Female Stress Urinary Incontinence

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of moxibustion combined with biofeedback and electrical stimulation in the treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI).Methods One hundred and twenty female SUI patients were divided into treatment and control groups by simple random sampling methods (n=60 cases).The control group received biofeedback and electrical stimulation.The treatment group received moxa stick fumigating some key acupoints such as Qihai, Guanyuan, Zhongji on the basis of control group's treatment.The international consultation on incontinence questionnaire urinary incontinence short form (ICI-Q-SF) scores were recorded and changes of perineum muscle strength were measured before and after treatment, 3-and 6-month treatment.Results Compared with control group, ICI-Q-SF scores in treatment group were significantly lower after treatment and 3-, 6-month follow-up visit (P<0.05).Compared with control group, perineum muscle strength with type I in treatment group increased obviously after treatment and 3-, 6-month follow-up visit (P<0.05), while no differences were found in type II (P>0.05).The total effective rates of treatment group after a course, 3 and 6 months were superior to those of control group (P<0.05).Conclusion The clinical effects of moxibustion plus biofeedback and electrical stimulation is superior to single pelvic floor rehabilitation.
