Observation of Short-term Curative Effects of Meniscal Bucket-handle Tears by All-inside Suture

Abstract:Objective To observe short-term curative effects of meniscal bucket-handle tears by all-inside suture.Methods Thirty-five cases of meniscal bucket-handle tears were diagnosed by arthroscope and the posterior horn were sutured with Fast-Fix system plus PDS sutures,meanwhile,other intra-articular injuries were repaired.The patients did early flexibility exercises less than 90 within 4 weeks after operation and avoided full weight-bearing until 8 weeks.The range of motion,stability,joint function and Lysholm scores were measured before and after operation.Results All patients had been followed up [ranged from 5-17 months,average (11.4 ± 5.5) months].All knee joint were recovered to normal level,and not locked or instability.Two cases felt pain and mild uncomfortable in patellofemoral joint when a full squat.Lysholm scores were improved from preoperative (71.8 ± 2.4) scores to postoperative (91.3-0.8) scores (P<0.05).Conclusion All-inside suture repaires meniscal bucket-handle tears satisfactorily,simply meanwhile,it is minimally invasive without obvious complications and perfectly suitable for the young patients to restore high life qualities and movement.
