Anxiety Status of Medical Students before Clinical Practice and the Influencial Factors

Abstract:Objective To understand the characteristics of medical students,anxiety at different stages before clinical practice,analyze the influencial factors,and supply the reference for anxiety intervention for the hospitals and schools.Methods The anxiety status of 552 medical students before clinical skills training,after clinical skills training and after pre-service training were investigated using self-rating anxiety scale (SAS).Results The differences of anxiety symptoms for medical students among three stages before clinical practice were statistically significant (P<0.05).The differences of anxiety symptoms for medical students with different genders,educational backgrounds and professions before clinical practice were statistically significant (P<0.05).Anxiety was related to the level of clinical skills,language communication skills,teachers,level,etc.Conclusion Medical students generally have anxiety before clinical practice,which is produced by multiple factors.The anxiety intervention should be strengthened to improve their clinical practice quality.
