Abstract:Objective To explore relation between pathological classification of the rectal carcinoma and its prognosis. Method Clinical pathological data were analysed retrospectively in 577 cases of the rectal carcinomas, which were histologically typed according to the criteria of WHO and Dukes tumors classifications. Results of the 577 tumors, 335 were ulcerous type, 228 eminence, 14 infiltrating. There were 104 well differentiated adenocarcinomas, of which the majority were staged dukes' A. There were 309 moderately differentiated adenocarcinomas, which was not significantly relative with Dukes' classification. There was 1 carcinoid, which was staged as Dukes' A. There were 71 poorly differentiated adenocarainomas, 78 mucinous adenocarcinomas, 10 signet-ring cells carcinomas, 2 undifferentiated carcinomas and 2 squamous cells carcinomas in the remained 163 tumors, of which the majority were staged as Dukes' c.
