Abstract:Based on the satellite thermal infrared brightness temperature data since 2006,the earthquakes of ML5.0 along the South China coast and those above ML4.0 in the adjacent area of Hainan were analyzed. The results show that there are obvious thermal infrared anomalies in 64.7%of the earthquakes before the earthquake, which are characterized by the process of occurrence-increase-peak-attenuation-extinction.In addition, the correspond-ing occurrence period of anomalies in different earthquakes varies, dominated by the first corresponding period. Most of the earthquakes occur within two months after the anomaly reaches its peak. The maximum amplitude of the anomaly has no positive correlation with the magnitude of the earthquake and may be related to whether there was a high-value anomaly in the years before the earthquake, which is a relative value.
