Abstract:In the background of a seismic resistant project of a super large and long shield tunnel, a novel flexible damping joint developed by SMA shaped memory alloy is proposed. The mechanism and effectiveness of the damping measure on controlling the seismic longitudinal response of shield tunnel in high intensity seismic zone is analyzed by using response displacement method based on the longitudinal beam-spring model. The results show that the openings of the joints located on the soil variation area can be mitigated obviously by adopting the flexible damping joint measure, which is able to improve the anti-seismic performance of the entire shield tunnel. The concentrated deformations of the damping joints can be restored to the original position partly after the earthquake. The control measure can well protect the shield tunnel from destroyed by earthquake.
