Abstract:Objective:To investigate the implementation of forced-induction exercise training in children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy and its effects on their motor function. Methods:A total of 74 pediatric patients diagnosed with hemiplegic cerebral palsy at Kaifeng Children's Hospital between March 2022 and March 2024 were enrolled as study subjects. They were randomly assigned to two groups using a random number table, with 37 patients in each group. The control group received conventional rehabilitation training, while the observation group underwent constraint-induced movement therapy based on the control group's intervention protocol.Muscle tone, fine motor function, brain development, and activities of daily living were compared between the two groups. Results:After intervention, the wrist flexor and elbow flexor scores on the Modified Ashworth Scale(MAS)were lower in the observation group than in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After intervention, the scores on all subscales of the Peabody Developmental Motor Scale(PDMS)(grasping,visual-motor integration, and fine motor quotient)were higher in the observation group than in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After intervention, the scores for all items(posture, social behavior, hearing, and control ability)on the Gesell Developmental Scale(GDS)were higher in the observation group than in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After intervention, the Modified Barthel Index(MBI)scores were higher in the observation group than in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion:Constraint-induced movement therapy can enhance muscle tone in children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy, improve their fine motor skills, promote brain development, and enhance their activities of daily living.
