Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effectiveness of health education guided by the Health Empowerment Theory during the postoperative rehabilitation period for patients with anterior cruciate ligament deficiency(ACLD)injuries. Methods:A total of 70 patients in the postoperative recovery phase following ACLD surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University between May 2022 and March 2024 were selected as study subjects.Using a random number table method, they were divided into Group A and Group B,with 35 patients in each group.Group A received conventional nursing care, while Group B received health education guided by the health empowerment theory in addition to the care provided to Group A.The post-intervention recovery outcomes[Visual Analog Scale(VAS)scores, time to first ambulation, length of hospital stay],knee function scores on the day of discharge, rate of excellent health behaviors, nursing satisfaction, and recurrence rate at 6 months postoperatively of the two patient groups were compared. Results:After intervention, the VAS scores, time to first ambulation, and length of hospital stay were lower in Group B than in Group A,with all differences being statistically significant(P<0.05).On the day of discharge, the muscle strength, pain, functional capacity, and stability scores in Group B were higher than those in Group A,with all differences being statistically significant(P<0.05).The health behavior excellence rate and the nursing satisfaction rate in Group B was higher than that in Group A,with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The recurrence rate at 6 months post-surgery in Group B was lower than that in Group A,with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion:Health education guided by the Health Empowerment Theory during the postoperative rehabilitation period for ACLD patients can enhance health behavior levels, improve rehabilitation outcomes, promote knee joint function recovery, increase nursing satisfaction, and reduce the recurrence rate at 6 months post-surgery.
