Abstract:Objective:To investigate the therapeutic efficacy of Buyang Huanwu Decoction combined with mouse nerve growth factor in patients with acute spinal cord injury(ASCI).Methods:A total of 90 ASCI patients admitted to Henan Luoyang Orthopedic-Traumatological Hospital from July 2021 to August 2023 were divided into a study group(45 cases)and a control group(45 cases)using a random number table. All patients received conventional treatments such as spinal canal decompression within 72 hours after injury. The control group was treated with mNGF on the basis of conventional therapy, while the study group was given additional Buyang Huanwu Decoction. The therapeutic efficacy,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome scores, spinal nerve function scores,Activity of Daily Living(ADL)scores,Barthel Index(BI)scores for independent living ability, and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the total effective rate of the study group was significantly higher than that of the control group and the scores of primary and secondary TCM syndromes in the study group were lower, while the scores of sensory function, motor function,ADL,and BI were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions such as pulmonary infection, urinary tract infection, and gastrointestinal reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:ASCI patients treated with Buyang Huanwu Decoction combined with mouse nerve growth factor achieved significant results, promoting recovery of spinal cord nerve function, enhancing sensory and motor capabilities, effectively alleviating clinical symptoms, and improving patients' prognosis and functional capacity.
