Abstract:Objective:To explore the therapeutic efficacy of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in treating chronic cough in children following Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection. Methods:A total of 90 children with chronic cough after Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection admitted to Xuchang Beihai Hospital from 2022 to 2024 were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 45 cases in each group. The control group received conventional Western medical treatment, while the observation group was additionally treated with traditional Chinese medicine decoctions and acupuncture therapy.Serum inflammatory cytokine levels, syndrome scores, therapeutic efficacy, and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results:The observation group exhibited a significantly greater reduction in serum inflammatory cytokine levels(IL-6 and IL-10)compared to the control group. The traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group. The clinical effective rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:The integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine approach can effectively regulate inflammatory responses, improve clinical symptoms and signs, enhance the clinical cure rate in children with chronic cough following Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection, and demonstrates a high level of safety.
