Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of tacrolimus in treating ocular myasthenia gravis in the elderly. Methods:A total of 86 elderly patients with ocular myasthenia gravis treated at Nanyang Central Hospital between February 2023 and August 2024 were enrolled as study subjects, and they were assigned to control group and observation group by random number table method, with 43 patients in each group, using a random number table. The control group received conventional symptomatic treatment, while the observation group was treated with tacrolimus. The overall response rate, relevant serological and immunological markers, quality of life, and adverse reactions were compared between the two treatment regimens. Results:The total effective rate achieved by patients in the observation group after drug treatment was significantly higher than that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the pre-treatment serological and immunological indicator measurements between the two patient groups.Post-treatment,the improvement in serological and immunological indicators was significantly better in the observation group than in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).After implementation of different treatment regimens, all quality of life scores in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in adverse reactions between the two groups following medication(P<0.05).Conclusion:Tacrolimus demonstrates remarkable efficacy in treating ocular myasthenia gravis in elderly patients. It effectively clears inflammation within the body, improves immune function and quality of life, and exhibits excellent safety during administration.
