Clinical Observation of Moxibustion Combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine Foot Bath in the Treatment of Maintenance Hemodialysis with Restless Leg Syndrome

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the effect of acupoint moxibustion combined with Chinese medicine foot bath in maintenance hemodialysis(MHD)patients with restless leg syndrome(RLS).Methods:Based on random number table method,76 MHD patients with RLS admitted Zhumadian Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from January 2021 to April 2023 selected as the study subjects.Patients with routine nursing+acupoint moxibustion combined with Chinese medicine foot bath intervention were set as the observation group(n=38),while patients with routine nursing were set as the control group(n=38),and both groups were continuously intervened for 4 weeks.RLS severity,Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),quality of life and Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome score of these two groups were analyzed and compared.Results:The International RLS Assessment Scale(IRLS),PSQI score,TCM syndrome score and 36-Item Short Form Health Survey(SF-36)score were compared between these two groups before intervention,and there was no statistical difference(P＞0.05).Compared with control group,IRLS,PSQI scores and TCM syndrome scores in observation group were lower after intervention,and SF-36 scores were higher,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion:Acupoint moxibustion combined with Chinese medicine foot bath has a high application value in MHD patients with RLS,which could reduce the severity of RLS,improve the quality of sleep and improve the quality of life.
