Abstract:Objective:To observe the efficacy of combined bronchoalveolar lavage(BAL)and inhaled acetylcysteine in treating bronchiectasis with pulmonary infection. Methods:A total of 60 patients with bronchiectasis complicated by pulmonary infection admitted to Shangrao People's Hospital from January 2022 to January 2024 were enrolled in this study. They were randomly divided into group A and group B,with 30 patients in each group.Group A received BAL combined with inhaled acetylcysteine therapy on top of standard treatment, while group B received BAL therapy on top of standard treatment. The clinical efficacy of both groups after treatment,as well as changes in lung function and inflammatory factor levels before and after treatment, were observed. Results:Compared with group B,the total effective rate of clinical efficacy in group A after treatment was significantly higher, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).After treatment, both groups showed significant increases in forced vital capacity(FVC),percentage of predicted forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1),and FEV1/FVC ratio compared to pre-treatment levels, and compared to group B,group A demonstrated higher levels of these indicators, with all differences being statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, both groups showed significant reductions in serum interleukin(IL)-6,procalcitonin(PCT),and C-reactive protein(CRP)levels compared to pre-treatment levels, and the levels in group A were lower than those in group B,with all differences being statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:BAL combined with inhaled acetylcysteine demonstrates proven efficacy in treating patients with bronchiectasis complicated by pulmonary infection, facilitating recovery of pulmonary function and alleviating systemic inflammatory responses.
