Effects of Semaglutide on Glucose and Lipid Metabolism and Cardiac Function in Type 2 Diabetes with Coronary Heart Disease

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the effects of semaglutide on glucose and lipid metabolism and cardiac function in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)complicated by coronary heart disease.Methods:A total of 80 patients with coronary heart disease(CHD)complicated by T2DM admitted to the Department of Cardiology at Wuxi Second People's Hospital Affiliated to Jiangnan University between February 2022 and May 2024 were selected as study objects.They were randomly assigned to an observation group(n=40)and a control group(n=40).Both groups received standard treatment,and the observation group additionally received semaglutide injection.The improvement in glucose and lipid metabolism,cardiac function,and clinical symptoms was evaluated and analyzed between the two groups.Results:Following treatment,levels of blood glucose,blood lipids,the frequency of angina attacks,and their duration were all lower than those before treatment in both groups,with the observation group showing lower values than the control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,no significant intergroup differences were observed in left ventricular end-diastolic diameter(LVEDD),left ventricular end-systolic diameter(LVESD),or left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)(P＞0.05).The total effective rate of treatment was higher in the observation group than in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion:The use of semaglutide in patients with coronary heart disease and type 2 diabetes significantly improves glucose and lipid metabolism,alleviates angina symptoms,and increases the overall treatment response rate.
