Abstract:Objective:Through a comparative study of blood lipid data between young and middle-aged people and the elderly,to explore their blood lipid status and its significance. Methods:A total of 2 515 local residents who underwent physical examination in Huai'an Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from January 1,2021 to December 31,2023 were selected as study subjects, aged 20-89 years old. They were divided into groups according to age, with 1 group for every 10 years old,4 groups for young and middle-aged people under 60 years old and 3 groups for old people over 60 years old.Fasting venous blood samples were collected and four blood lipid indicators, serum total cholesterol, triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)and high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)were detected by Siemens ADVIA2400 automatic biochemical analyzer, and non-HDL-C was calculated. The data of five lipid indicators were retrospectively studied and statistically analyzed.Results:(1)In the young and middle-aged groups, with age,the average values of five blood lipid indicators except HDL-C gradually increased, while in the elderly groups, they gradually decreased;the average values of five blood lipid indicators in the elderly group were higher than those in the young and middle-aged group, and except TG,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).(2)In the young and middle-aged groups, with age,the proportions of people who meet the criteria for dyslipidemia of the five blood lipid indicators except HDL-C gradually increased, while in the elderly groups, the proportions gradually decreased; The proportions of people who meet the criteria for dyslipidemia of the five blood lipid indicators except HDL-C in the elderly group were higher than those in the young and middle-aged group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:There are different characteristics of blood lipid status between young and middle-aged people and old people. The blood lipid level of the elderly was significantly higher than that of the young and middle-aged,and the proportion of the elderly with dyslipidemia was significantly higher than that of the young and middle-aged.Both old people and young and middle-aged people should monitor their blood lipid indicators regularly and pay attention to its regulation. It is more meaningful to use non-HDL-C as a lipid regulation target than the traditional LDL-C.
