Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effects of combined Chuanping therapy and hand function robotics on the muscle tone of the flexor muscle groups and upper limb function in patients with increased hand muscle tone following stroke. Methods:A total of 68 patients with increased hand muscle tone following stroke who were treated at Zhengzhou Central Hospital Affiliated to Zhengzhou University between May 2019 and May 2021 were selected as study subjects.Using a random number table, they were divided into a control group(receiving hand function robot intervention)and an observation group(receiving hand function robot intervention plus Chuanping therapy),with 34 patients in each group.Finger muscle tone[Modified Ashworth Scale(MAS)],finger function[Carroll Upper Extremity Function Test(UEFT)],and upper limb function[Fugl-Meyer Assessment(FMA)upper limb subscale]were assessed at baseline and at 2 and 4 weeks post-intervention.The self-care ability[Modified Barthel Index(MBI)]and quality of life[Stroke Impact Scale(SIS)]were observed before intervention and at 2 and 4 weeks post-intervention.Results:At 2 and 4 weeks post-intervention,the MAS scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).At 2 and 4 weeks post-intervention,the observation group demonstrated significantly higher UEFT,FMA-Upper Limb,MBI,and SIS scores compared to the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion:Combining Chuanping therapy with hand function robots for patients with increased muscle tone in the hand following stroke effectively improves upper limb and finger function as well as muscle tone. This approach enhances independence in daily living and elevates quality of life, demonstrating superior short-and long-term efficacy compared to hand function robot intervention alone.
