Abstract:Objective:To investigate variations in carbohydrate antigen 199(CA199)levels among type 2 diabetes patients with different glycated hemoglobin(HbA1c)levels and to analyze factors associated with CA199 levels. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on the records of 148 patients with type 2 diabetes admitted to Wuhu Conch Hospital from December 2020 to November 2023.Patients were categorized by HbA1c levels into well-controlled glycemia(n=26,HbA1c<6.5%),moderately controlled glycemia(n=39,HbA1c 6.5%~7.5%),and poorly controlled glycemia(n=83,HbA1c>7.5%).Fasting blood glucose(FBG),low-density lipoprotein(LDL),triglycerides(TG),high-density lipoprotein(HDL),total cholesterol(TC),and CA199 were measured in each patient group.Differences in blood parameters among the three groups were compared, and the correlation between CA199 and the aforementioned blood parameters was analyzed. Results:The TG,FBG,and CA199 levels in the poor glycemic control group were significantly higher than those in the well-controlled and moderately controlled groups, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The LDL,HDL,and TC levels in the poor glycemic control group showed no statistically significant differences compared with the well-controlled and moderately controlled groups(P>0.05).Pearson correlation analysis indicated that CA199 was associated with TG,FBG,and HbA1c(r=0.298,0.343,-0.440,P<0.05).Multivariate linear regression results revealed that FBG and HbA1c are independent risk factors for elevated CA199 levels(β=0.174,0.309,P<0.05).Conclusion:Poor glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes, characterized by elevated FBG and HbA1c levels, may lead to increased serum CA199 levels.
