Abstract:Objective:To explore the correlation between pain, anxiety and depression symptoms in patients with spinal diseases. Methods:A total of 246 patients with spinal diseases admitted to the Spinal Surgery Department of a tertiary hospital in Shenzhen from March 2022 to March 2023 were selected as the study subjects.A questionnaire survey was conducted on 246 newly admitted patients with spinal diseases using the Numerical Rating Scale(NRS),Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7(GAD-7),and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 Items(PHQ-9).Results:Among 246 patients with spinal disorders,231 patients experienced varying degrees of pain,100 patients experienced varying degrees of anxiety, and 93 patients experienced varying degrees of depression.Univariate analysis results showed that the source of medical expenses(P=0.004)and NRS scores(P=0.034)were associated with anxiety and depression.Multivariate linear regression analysis revealed that public medical insurance and NRS scores were independent risk factors for preoperative anxiety and depression in patients with spinal disorders(P<0.05).Conclusion:Patients with spinal disorders experience pain that is associated with symptoms of anxiety and depression. It is important to conduct pain assessments and interventions for newly admitted patients with spinal disorders as early as possible to alleviate their pain and negative psychological emotions such as anxiety and depression, thereby promoting surgical treatment and disease recovery.
