Abstract:Objective:To investigate the impact of hemoglobin(Hb)screening and quantification on blood donation recruitment. Methods:A total of 2 200 blood donors recruited by the Central Blood Station of Ganzhou City,Jiangxi Province, from November 2019 to November 2020 were selected as the study subjects.Based on whether they returned for blood donation after initial screening, all study subjects were divided into a return blood donation group(1 294 cases)and a non-return blood donation group(906 cases).General information was collected and compared between the two groups. After adjusting for confounding factors, logistic regression analysis was used to assess the impact of Hb qualitative and quantitative screening tests on blood donation recruitment. Results:After adjusting for confounding factors,Hb screening increased the success rate of blood donation recruitment.Compared with blood donors who failed the Hb screening test, those who passed the Hb screening test had a 91.4%higher success rate of returning to donate blood(OR=1.914,95%CI:1.671-2.273,P<0.05).Conclusion:Under the control of confounding factors, the initial screening of hemoglobin(Hb)levels, both qualitative and quantitative, significantly impacts blood donation recruitment.Blood bank staff should develop and implement scientifically sound and effective intervention strategies based on these factors to enhance the success rate of blood donation recruitment at blood banks.
