Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of the combination of the Yuanli Needle Technique and the Duhuo Jisheng Decoction based on the Jingjin Theory on the rehabilitation of lumbar and back function in patients with lumbar disc herniation(LDH).Methods:A total of 80 patients diagnosed with LDH at Zhengzhou Central Hospital between May 2021 and May 2024 were selected as the study subjects. The patients were randomly divided into a combined treatment group(40 cases)and a conventional treatment group(40 cases). The combined treatment group received treatment using the circular needle technique based on the theory of meridian muscles combined with the Duhuo JiSheng Tang decoction, while the conventional treatment group received conventional Western medicine treatment. Both groups underwent treatment for 4 weeks. All patients were treated for 4 weeks. The lumbar spine function was assessed using the Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)score and the Oswestry Disability Index(ODI)before and after treatment.Biomechanical indicators of the lumbar extensor muscle group(peak torque in the lumbar extension state, lumbar flexion-extension ratio, average power, etc.),electromyography, and levels of inflammatory factors[tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α,interleukin(IL)-1β,interleukin(IL)-6,etc.]were compared between the two groups.Clinical efficacy and the incidence of adverse reactions during treatment was compared between the two groups. Results:The overall response rate in the combined therapy group was higher than that in the conventional group, with a statistically significant difference(χ2=4.114,P<0.05).After treatment, the combined group had significantly better JOA scores,ODI indices, peak torque in the lumbar extension position, lumbar flexion-extension ratio, and average power than the conventional group, with all differences being statistically significant(t=3.935,3.176,4.622,4.272,6.635,P<0.05).Following treatment, the combined group exhibited higher conduction velocities for both the peroneal nerve and the common peroneal nerve compared to the conventional group.Additionally, levels of TNF-α,IL-1β,and IL-6 were lower in the combined group than in the conventional group, with all differences being statistically significant(t=3.989,3.236,6.249,8.031,8.131;P<0.05).The overall incidence of adverse reactions such as local redness and swelling, and subcutaneous hemorrhage in the combined group was not significantly different from that in the conventional group(χ2=0.157,P>0.05).Conclusion:The use of the Jingjin theory combined with the Yuanyili needle technique and the Duhuo Jisheng Decoction significantly improves treatment outcomes for LDH patients, facilitates the recovery of lumbar spine function, enhances the biomechanics of the lumbar extensor muscle group, increases nerve conduction velocity, reduces inflammatory responses, and demonstrates good safety.
