Abstract:Objective:To compare the effectiveness of polylactic acid absorbable root canal posts and glass fiber short posts in the restoration of residual crowns of primary anterior teeth in infants and young children. Methods:A total of 96 pediatric patients with anterior tooth stumps admitted to Taizhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from January 2022 to November 2023 were randomly divided into two groups. The control group(48 cases)underwent stump restoration using glass fiber posts, while the observation group(48 cases)underwent stump restoration using polylactic acid absorbable root canal posts. The chewing efficiency, bite force, gingival index, and gingival bleeding index of the two groups of pediatric patients were tested before restoration and 6 months after restoration.During the follow-up visit 6 months after restoration, the incidence of adverse reactions and satisfaction with crown restoration were recorded for both groups of pediatric patients, and the results were compared and analyzed.Results:6 months after treatment, the improvement in chewing efficiency and bite force in the observation group was greater than that in the control group, and the reduction in gingival bleeding index was more significant, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions was lower in the observation group than in the control group, and the satisfaction with crown restoration was higher in the observation group than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:When using polylactic acid absorbable root canal posts to repair residual crowns of primary anterior teeth in infants and young children, the restored chewing function and gingival condition of the patients are better, the incidence of adverse reactions is lower, and the satisfaction with the restoration is effectively improved.
