Effect of Clear Fire Inflammatory Decoction on Periodontal Health Indicators and Chewing Function in Patients with Dental Defects Accompanied by Chronic Periodontitis

Abstract：Objective:To observe the effect of Clear Fire and Inflammation Elimination Decoction in the treatment of dental defects with chronic periodontitis.Methods:Using the lottery method,86 cases of patients with dental defects accompanied by chronic periodontitis admitted to Xinyu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from December 2022 to February 2024 were divided into two groups of 43 cases each.The control group implemented basic periodontal treatment and denture repair,and the observation group implemented Qinghuoyanxie Tang treatment on this basis.The treatment effects of the two groups were compared.Results:After treatment,the observation group had higher total effective rate than the control group,with statistically significant difference(χ2=4.074,P＜0.05).The observation group had low periodontal looseness,gingival sulcus bleeding index,and periodontal probing depth than the control group,with statistically significant differences(t=4.213,3.368,3.270;P＜0.05).Compared with the control group,the observation group had a high masticatory function score,with statistically significant difference(t=2.372,P＜0.05).After treatment,the levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)hypersensitive C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)and interleukin-6(IL-6)in the observation group were lower than the control group,with statistically significant differences(t=9.018,10.543,13.192;P＜0.001).The observation group had higher scores on the dimensions of the Quality of Life Inventory for Patients with Chronic Periodontitis(OHIP-CP)than the control group,with statistically significant differences(t=4.493,5.414,6.074,7.170;P＜0.001).During the treatment period,there were no serious adverse reactions in both groups.Conclusion:Clear fire inflammation elimination decoction could reduce the level of gingival inflammatory factor in patients with dental defects with chronic periodontitis,maintain periodontal health,improve masticatory function and quality of life,with better clinical efficacy and high therapeutic safety.
